INSTALL

IMG_6617CARBON COPY was transported from F&D’s fabrication warehouse in Calgary to Edmonton on the back of a picker truck, a completely different vehicle than when it left Edmonton a few months earlier.

The piece was hoisted off the truck onto a pre-poured base, installed earlier in June.

DSCF9856IMG_6820The F&D installation team set to work fixing the sculpture in place, bolting the central steel structure (two large beams) to underground foundations engineered to support the artwork.

The hood, trunk, and other details were installed, including our personal favourite – the tires.

The access panel for the “brains” of the car (ie. the arduino units controlling the tail lights, brake lights, and interior “scanner bar” lighting) live inside the cab of the car. We opened up the vehicle one last time to adjust the programming.

Then we added a final detail, straight out of our car and into the sculpture: an air freshener.
